Jerry

My name is Jerry Drain and I'm the co-founder of Frugal Web Development and co-contributor of OurSilverton.com to the Silverton Community.

I have a diverse background in education and working experience, including running a race horse ranch with 50 horses on it, to studying sculpting, painting, and drawing at a small university in the northwest corner of Missouri. I'm not the "World's Most Interesting Man". but I hope someday to be a distant relative.

Along computing lines, I worked at Microsoft for 10 years, three years of which as a Program Manager on the Internet Explorer development team. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Washington. My apologies to all Ducks and Beavers, when we meet I will try hard not to yell out "Dawgs Rule". After the intense career at Microsoft's, I took leave of the computer industry, and looking for a change, I turned my woodworking hobby into a business. Today I'm the sole proprietor of Wooden Thumbs (www.WoodenThumbs.net), which exists today in the foothills above Scotts Mills.

Try as I might I can't quite get computing out of my blood. After all, my Mom still expects me to provide technical support for her computer. That's why when one afternoon as I started sharing some ideas with Andy about a "web portal" for Silverton, one idea lead to another and the concept for Frugal Web Development and the OurSilverton.com site were born. I have very high hopes for OurSilverton.com, as a web site that is shaped and driven by the community. It will take time to evolve, but the adventure should be an exciting journey. You can always feel free to contact me regarding Frugal or OurSilverton, at
