If someone wants to send you an email, and you have this feature turned on, they click on your name and fill out a form on . When they click Send Email our server sends you the email. They never see your email address, nor do any scrape/scam/spam/email collector routines.

We do not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the addresses on our database to anyone. In addition, we configure our list server software to refuse to divulge the email addresses of our list subscribers to anyone but authorized staff, even other list subscribers do not have access to email addresses on our database.

Rating Businesses

Whenever you do business in Silverton, we'd like you to rate that business - satisfactory or not - so that all of us in Silverton can see how well the businesses treat their customers.

There are certain safeguards built into this rating system. First, you must be logged in (registered with ) before you can rate a business. Second, you can only rate a business once. If you have a different experience and want to change or delete your rating, you can, but we don't want people to input hundreds of ratings to try to stuff the ballot box.

Additionally, the rating can have several levels of anonymity. The business will get an email telling them that they've had a rating, and if you want, they'll be able to contact you, either by email or through the email form (which allows them to contact you without knowing your email address), either way, if they've got something to fix, this is a way for them to be notified and have the opportunity to fix it. You can also specify that your name is not shown if and when any rating you entered is displayed.

The ratings are kept in our database, and we'll calculate a 'customer satisfaction percentage' and display that for every business we list. If a business has better than a 90% satisfaction rate, we'll also display some of the most recent positive comments. If they're rate is below 90%, then we won't show any comments. The business will be able to see all comments, in order to help them improve their business.

Each week, we'll send you ONE email, if you've used the business search feature, asking you to fill out a short survey rating businesses. It's very short: satisfied or not, why, and why is optional, in fact the whole thing is optional, but it's a way for us in Silverton to a) see what others think of the businesses, b) see which businesses are the 'best' and c) give businesses a chance to know what's good and bad about their business, and a chance to fix it.

If you put in an unsatisfactory rating, you have the option of letting the business contact you to try and fix the problem.
